Modesto, California - Charlotte Alice (Cripe) Peck was born in Yuba City on September 7,1929 to John and Mary Cripe. She went to live in her heavenly home on March 13, 2022. She was 92 years old.
Charlotte spent much of her early life in Rio Oso. Her family moved to the Modesto/Turlock area during her high school years and she graduated from Turlock High School in 1946. She met Russell Peck while they were working in the lab at Barium Products. Charlotte and Russell were married on September 3,1949 in Modesto where they made their home and raised their family after graduating from San Jose State.
Charlotte was a math teacher at Davis High School for many years and was very involved in the Modesto Teachers Association. Her greatest joys in life were her family and her award-winning garden. She thrived on fighting for causes she believed in, especially for her fellow educators while she was teaching and after retiring with CalRTA. She was known for her gracious hospitality and enjoyed volunteering with the McHenry Museum Guild and the Sylvan Improvement Club.
Charlotte's faith in God and her relationship with Jesus Christ were unwavering. She was comforted during her last days by the knowledge that she would soon be in heaven. Her greatest wish was to someday have all her family there as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Cripe and eight of her twelve siblings: Mary, John, George, Erma, Earl, Carl, Harvey and Harold. She is survived by her beloved husband Russell, her loving children, Carol (Robert) Butterfield, Stephen (Jill) Peck, grandchildren Kathryn (Ryan) Byrne, Krista (Sean) Ouellette, her adored great grandchildren, Kellen, Kenzie and Owen, her siblings Esther, Richard (Mary Gail), Dorothy (Dale), Donald (Sharon), sisters-in-law, Marjorie, Syvie and Eliane, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A grave side service for her family was held at Wood Colony Cemetery. A memorial service for her will be held at La Loma Grace Community Church on Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
