Darlys VanderBeek Obituary

DARLYS MARIE VANDERBEEK DEC. 17, 1951 - JAN. 14, 2008 Darlys VanderBeek, 56, passed at her home in Ann Arbor, Mich. A five-decade cancer survivor, she was an outstanding student at Ripon High and MJC and earned a master's degree in counseling from Sacramento State. She served on the faculty at Hope College of Holland, Mich., and the University of Michigan, and previously served as the chair of the council of disability awareness for the State of Michigan. She is survived by her mother, Marie Ardell VanderBeek of Ripon, brothers Cliff VanderBeek of Fresno and Brian VanderBeek of Salida, sister Juanda Rogers of Burke, Va., a niece and six nephews. A celebration of her life has been scheduled for Tues., Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Fireside Room at Calvary Reformed Church, 741Second St., Ripon.www.modbee.com/obituaries
