David Cassle Obituary

DAVID CLINTON CASSLE

David stepped into eternity April 6, after having lived a full life rich with family, friends and travel. He loved life and made the most of every adventure. He lived in Modesto most of his life and centered his life around cars and trucks, restoring and showing them until health forced him to move his interest to RC Cars. He was an avid modeler from a very early age. He was a member of the North Modesto Church of God.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mildred Cassle, sister Pat Stambaugh and son Steven  Cassle. He is survived by his beloved wife Joanne Cassle, daughter Marti (Chris) Hennings, stepchildren Steffani Sevedge and Jeramy (Tara) Groves, Grandchildren Emily Hennings, Christian Hennings, Anthony Durham, Karrisa Durham, Hannah Groves, Paige Groves and Great Granddaughter Kloey Durham, brother Mike Cassle and sister Crystal Brown and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing will be held at Eaton Funeral Home, 513 12th St., Modesto on Thurs, April 18th from 5-8pm. Graveside Services will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Rd.,  Gustine on Fri, April 19th at 10:30am and a Memorial will be held at the North Modesto Church of God, 1918 Sherwood Ave, Modesto on Sat., April 20th at 11:00am with luncheon following both events.

My Papa was an awesome rocken Papa. He gave me Hot Wheels and spun me around in his chair and always played with my cousin and me and he took me around the block on his scooter. I loved playing with him I had alot of fun with him but now I am eight and he has passed away. I really miss you Papa. With lots of love, Kloey and Hannah

Thanks for that final visit that we had last June, you were an inspiration to me. You were content with your circumstances and that spoke to my heart.
Love you, brother.

April 11, 2013

For almost 25 years, this man has been the light of my life. We had a love that went beyond the normal due to the fact that David was disabled early on and we had to make allowances for that. It just seemed to make us stronger. We had wonderful times together whether we actually went somewhere or stayed home. We loved the ocean and went frequently before he became wheelchair bound. We loved San Francisco's nature attractions and went often even with the scooter. Once when we went to Maui, we had rented a scooter and of course, David burned it up racing Jason style. The young heart never left him completely. His whole life has been about trucks and cars and being "cool". He loved going to church in his later years and missed it terribly the last 8 months. He made a gallant fight until the end telling me on Fri that he was going to beat this last episode, and we were going to the ocean asap. Sat morning shortly after 5:00am, he was gone. I will miss him terribly but I know that he will always be with me with his young spirit and telling me to go for it...oh and wash the car!
