David Warner Obituary

David Donald Warner
Jul 24, 1942 - Feb 28, 2018
David Donald Warner, born in Helena, MT on July 24, 1942 to Donald Edward Warner and Jean Campbell Husband Warner, died suddenly on February 28, 2018 at Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto, CA at the age of 75.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Warner of 42 years, his son Michael Vernon Warner (Veronique), LaVerne, CA, David Ramsey-Warner (Kay), Wapato, WA, and Heidi Pagani (George), Oakdale, CA. David is also survived by his grandchildren Jeremy Warner, Miranda Warner, Valerie Warner, Joseph Pagani, and Gregory Pagani, as well as his sister Gail Fielding, Spokane, WA, brother Kim Warner (Diana), Argyle, TX and sister Lucinda Gorman (Steve), Cleveland, OH.
He is predeceased by his parents and his daughter Tiffany Jean Warner.
He lived for the last 2 years in Turlock, CA after having resided in Modesto, CA for 28 years.
David served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at China Lake, CA. from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965.
He was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament after having received his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. He served as Assistant Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Pasadena, CA for 3 years. He then served as Pastor of Wapato Presbyterian Church, Wapato, WA for 9 years. He then took a hiatus to support his wife through her term of seminary so that they could become co-pastors together. David and Wendy were Co-pastors at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Modesto, CA for 20 years. Upon retirement, he was an Interim Pastor at the Manteca Presbyterian church for 3 years. Most recently he has enjoyed his retirement at the First Presbyterian Church, Turlock, CA; singing in the choir, leading discussions at the Men's Coffee time, and participating in the Building and Grounds Committee, along with various other activities. Since 1987 he was extremely active in the Presbytery of Stockton, holding many positions of leadership.
David chaired the Stanislaus County CROP Walk, and was also on the planning committee for the Benefit Concerts for Habitat for Humanity for the past 25 years.
He touched many lives and inspired many people through his ministry and his unique and humorous preaching style. He walked the walk.
David loved God, loved his family, and working in his shop remodeling or repairing his house or his church. David always looked forward to spending time with his family, camping with his children and grandchildren, playing his guitar and singing crazy camp songs around the fire. He was the reigning cribbage champion of the family, according to him. He always had a smile, a funny story or a corny joke, wanting to help make others feel better – to have a good day.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church (2619 N. Berkeley Ave, Turlock, CA) at 10 am.
Memorial Gifts may be made to The Building Fund at First Presbyterian Church, Turlock, Habitat for Humanity, CROP Walk (Church World Service), World Vision, or the charity of your choice.
