Don Delgado Obituary

DON DELGADO SEPT 1941 - DEC 2009 Don Delgado, age 68, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on December 1, 2009. Don was born on September 13, 1941 in Niles, California. He was raised in Union City and started working in a grocery store at age 9. Don opened his first grocery store in Anderson where he met his wife Sherrie. They later moved to Oakdale and then Delhi where they opened Delgado's Courtesy Markets. In 1988, they opened Delgado's Costless Market in Turlock where they remained until retirement in 1998. During his retirement Don spent his spare time with his family, taking care of his yard and his Koi pond, and volunteering his time with organizations such as United Samaritans Foundation and Emanuel Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife Sherrie, his sons Danny Delgado of NC, Mike Delgado of Turlock, Casey Delgado of Bella Vista, and his daughter Angela Delgado and her husband Troy of Turlock. He will be greatly missed by his ten grandchildren who loved their Papa very much. He is also survived by his brother Edward (Clara) Delgado of Turlock, and his sister Irene (George) Cole of Fremont. He is preceded in death by his parents Marion and Julia Delgado and his nephew Tim Cole. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Emanuel. A memorial service will be held on December 12, 2009 at 12 pm at Allen Mortuary in Turlock.
