Edilberto Teves Obituary
November 14, 1937 - October 18, 2022
Modesto, California - Edilberto "Albert" Teves died peacefully in his home on October 18th. Ed was born in Lima (Miraflores), Peru. He came to the US in the 1950s as a student. He met the love of his life at a 4th of July parade, and soon called California his home. He graduated from Stan State University with a BA in Economics, but teaching became his career. He was admired by his colleagues and loved by his students. He taught at Don Pedro Elementary in Ceres, Math at Blaker-Kinser Middle School, and Spanish to many at MJC. He was an avid soccer player, traveling worldwide with his team well into his 70s. He shared his love and passion for the game with those he coached: teaching his players soccer skills and life lessons all at once. He was preceded in death by his son Albert, and brothers Alex and Daniel. He is survived by his wife Rosa, his son Pedro and (Monika), daughter Mimi, and grandchildren Grace, Lauren, Grant and Kate.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Lady of Fatima church on Monday, November 14th at 10am on what would have been his 85th birthday.

I will never forget Mr. Teves. He was my 4th grade teacher at Don Pedro Elementary. He encouraged us to to the best we can and he inspired me to keep doing the best. To this day I still use the art techniques that he taught us in class. He will never be forgotten.

Mr. Teves was a wonderful, caring teacher, he made us all smile at Don Pedro Elementary. He will surely never be forgotten.

Mr. Teves was my 3rd and 4th grade teacher and soccer coach at Don Pedro elementary school. I think back on his kindness and patience in the classroom and on the soccer field. He was instrumental in getting the Math Masters card instituted - this was a reward that recognized kids that knew all their multiplication time tables by heart, it was a card that gave poor kids like me free ice cream on Fridays. It recognized mathematical accomplishment and was very motivating. He helped kids like me that finished all their work early and helped kids that were struggling. He just made you want to be your best self.
I now work as a grant manager for the County and teach at MJC.
I´m lucky to have had him as a teacher and such a positive influence in my life.
