Effie Carpenter Obituary
June 21, 1925 - January 13, 2012
"Happy" Effie Marie Carpenter passed away January 13, 2012, at the age of 86. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Carpenter. Happy and Jack had a wonderful 69 year marriage. Jack asked Happy's Dad for her hand in marriage at the age of 16. Happy's Dad said, "oh, Jack you are too young", but that did not stop the two sweethearts. They ran away to Reno and were married. They returned to Reno every October 5th to celebrate their anniversary. On their 27th anniversary, Happy wanted to get remarried because they fibbed about their age. Happy was afraid their marriage might not be legal since they were only 16 when they first married.
Happy also left behind her two children: Diana Carpenter of Roseville, California, and Steven Carpenter of Harker Heights, Texas; five grandchildren: Cheri, Michael, Vikki, Kelly and Summer; five great grandsons: Todd, Robert, Zachary, Kyle, and Maxwell; and her brother Jim England of Los Gatos, California.
Happy was so proud of her family and was known to show pictures to anyone who would look at them. Happy was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She was generous with her warmth, love and beautiful smile.
