Eldon Kidd Obituary

Eldon M. Kidd

May 16, 1933 - July 21, 2025

Modesto, California - El was born in Colusa, California, to Clarence W. Kidd and Alma Belle (Cochran).

He graduated from Modesto High School, College of the Pacific, and University of Pennsylvania (M.S.).

He farmed almonds, walnuts, and peaches in the Empire area, and also taught science and math at Denair H.S. and Oakdale H.S.

El is survived by Elaine, his wife of 68 years. Children: Brian Kidd (Kim), and Valerie Bishop (Dale), and five grandchildren: Austin Kidd (Katie), Owen Kidd, Jenny Bishop, Amanda Serlin (Zack), and Danny Bishop (Anne Marie), and two great-grandchildren, Evie and Henry.

With a sense of adventure and fun, El enjoyed travelling with friends and family. He always had a crossword puzzle in progress, and was ready with a quick-witted joke. He loved boating, and he taught his kids and grandkids to fish on Pinecrest Lake. Many a summer evening was enjoyed with his guitar songs around the campfire. He was larger than life and will be missed.

Yesterday

Elaine. Cindy and I are very sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed our visits with Eldon, you and Peggy. I remember him and Ralph enjoying a beer together in the hot Modesto summers. Those two were quite the characters. Please accept our condolences. He was a good guy and he will be missed. Michael

El was my colleague at OHS and we shared many of the same students. He was a scholar with unimpeachable skill in transferring learning. Deepest heartfelt sympathy to Elaine, Brian and Val.
