Esther Bell Obituary

Esther "Kay" Bell

July 22, 1941 - May 15, 2025

Modesto, California - Born in Hayward, Ca to Edward & Esther Enos, Kay was the eldest sister of Cheryl & Eddie. She graduated from Hayward High School in 1958 and later moved to Modesto, where she met and married Alvin Bell. Kay was "Mom" to Eric (Deb) Bell, Kim Borton, Sue (Tim) Roy, Joe Bell, and Katie (Mike) Hassey, "Grandma Bell" to her seven Grandchildren, and "GiGi" to her seven Great-Grandchildren.

Kay was a loving and involved mother, taking her kids to tumbling lessons, baseball practice, swim meets, and countless other activities. On top of raising five children, Kay worked in and outside of the home. She did the bookkeeping for the family businesses; Bell Mart on Paradise Road and Bell's Market on Tully Road, worked as Credit Manager at Weinstocks, later moved on to the SOS Club, and eventually Lifetouch where she finally retired. Kay made many friends along the way and made an impact on those around her.

When not enjoying family time during countless summer days spent by the pool, Kay enjoyed listening to oldies, curling up with a good book, watching her grandkids' many sporting events or school activities, and loved watching baseball and basketball with her husband, especially if the Dodgers or the Golden State Warriors were playing.

Kay also had many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She will be sadly missed by her family and forever remembered for her love, strength and unwavering support.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cheryl Hawk of Durham, Ca and her husband Al Bell.
