Frances Filice Obituary
May 28, 1934 - June 28, 2025
Fruitland, Idaho - Frances Filice, wife of 70 years to the late Arthur Filice Sr, has passed away at the age of 91. The daughter of Charles & Marie Hart, she was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and graduated from Santa Clara High School. She attended San Jose State and met Arthur when she was training to become a Nurse. They made Gilroy their first home, then moved to Patterson in 1963.
During her life in Patterson, Frances was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she participated on the liturgy committee, worked at the parish office, and sang in the choir. Frances had a beautiful voice and she also enjoyed playing guitar at Sunday mass.
Frances raised a family of 5 children with Arthur, so it came in handy that she was skillful in sewing. She was also very talented with oil painting, knitting & crocheting and when a new crafting technique was introduced to her world she would conquer it successfully. In the 70's she owned & operated a boutique in Patterson called "Fran's Beehive" where she started out by selling interior décor but ended up selling ladies clothing, which echoed her flare for fashion. Frances embraced serving her community and in 2008-2011 she served on the Del Puerto Hospital District Board, then the Health District Secretary. Later in life she enjoyed quilting, but nothing compared to the joy that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her.
Frances is survived by a son, Arthur Jr, daughters Gina Luiz, Joni Filice, Karen Baysinger, Kathy Leslie, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Sr, her twin sister Shirley Sattler, and her younger sister Melinda Wagner.
Rosary will be recited at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson, CA on Thursday, July 10 at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson on Friday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Patterson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in Frances' name to your favorite charity.
