Gary Bucknell Obituary

Gary Bucknell
October 31, 1961 - October 31, 2021
Modesto, California - Gary Douglas Bucknell was born on Oct. 31, 1961 to Lee and Sandy Bucknell in Woodland CA. He passed away on Oct. 31, his 60th birthday from natural causes. After living his first 4 years in Esparto where his dad was a high school agriculture teacher, the family moved to Modesto. Over the many years, Gary's family was actively involved in Trinity Presbyterian Church. Gary's first introduction to school was at the Modesto Junior College Parent Participation Preschool. He attended Woodrow Elementary, Somerset Middle School and Davis High School, graduating in the class of 1980. He then earned his BS in agrimechanical engineering from UC Davis. After returning to Modesto, Gary married Sue and they had three children: Brad, Danny and Katie.
In 2001, Gary became a single parent and raised his three children alone. Over the nearly 40 career years, he worked for a variety of IT companies both locally and in the Bay Area. Most recently he worked for Aldelo in Pleasanton and since the pandemic he was very fortunate to be able to work from home in Modesto.
Gary is survived by his son Bradley of Modesto, son Daniel of Salem OR, and daughter Kathryn of Sunnyvale, his parents Lee and Sandy Bucknell of Modesto, his sister Nan of Santa Clara, brother Jim (Monique) of Modesto and two nephews, Jon and Ben and one niece, Elizabeth and dog Eleanor.
A family service to honor Gary has been held and he will be laid to rest in the Bucknell family plot at the Upper Lake Cemetery. In honor of his late dear friend, Paul Anderson, donations can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org.
