 Harry Lewis, 76, of Modesto, entered into peaceful rest at home with his family by his side on Sat., Jan. 25, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Harry was born on June 18, 1937 in San Jose, CA to Harry J. and Marjorie R. Lewis. He lived his younger life in the Bay Area where he was employed for 40 years at Specialty Solid Waste, which was then the family owned and operated business before retiring in 1993. In 1986 he married his wife Kelly. They relocated to Modesto from the Santa Cruz mountains in 1990 where they started their family. Harry never met a stranger. He had an unforgettable smile and a sense of humor that was prevalent when telling one of his many stories.  He would make conversation with anyone, if they weren't a friend when the conversation started they were when it was finished. He had a heart of gold and would always put others first before himself. His favorite hobbies were fishing.  He loved to yell, "fish on". Along with bowling at Yosemite Lanes. His most precious moments were those spent with his family, especially the days at Lake Berryessa. Harry always believed his biggest accomplishment were his children. There will forever be a void where he once was. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to call him friend, whether a lifetime of friendship or just a few moments.
Harry was preceded in death by his beloved parents Harry and Marjorie Lewis and sister Marjorie. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Kelly, his children Teri Lynn Lewis and Patrick Canavan of Redding, Keith Lewis of Boulder Creek, Cortney Lewis and Michael Scarborough of Modesto, granddaughter Zoey Jean. Brothers Gary Lewis, John (Buzz) Lewis and sister Vickie Burke.
