Isaac Stephens

1933 - 2025

Loving Memory of Isaac "Ike" Stephens, aged 92, who passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Orangevale, California, with his devoted wife of 70 years Annetta by his side.

Born on May 24, 1933, in Milburn, Kentucky, Ike proudly served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army before marrying Annetta Cannon in 1955. They settled in the South Bay where Ike built a long and dedicated career at the Palo Alto Times. After retiring in 1978, Ike and Annetta moved to Scotts Valley, California, where they opened and operated ice cream parlors.

Ike will be remembered for his vibrant spirit and love of life. He was an avid fisherman who found peace on the water, a loyal Giants and 49ers fan, and someone who enjoyed the thrill of betting on the horses, attending theatrical productions, or a lively card game with friends. With a mischievous sense of humor, Ike was a true prankster who brought laughter to those around him. He also cherished the art of letter writing, treasuring the friendships he built and maintained through thoughtful correspondence.

Above all, Ike was a family man whose love and devotion knew no bounds. He is survived by his three children, Janetta Page (Hank), Lynetta Hodge (Les), and Gary Stephens (Donna); four grandchildren, Todd Lucas, Joshua Stephens, Jeremy Stephens, and Mikayla Salisbury (John); and two great-grandchildren, Meilynn and Sophie.

Ike's legacy lives on through the countless memories he created, the laughter he inspired, and the love he shared with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Services for Ike will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at Alta Mesa Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, California.
