Janet O'Leary Obituary

Janet Johnson O'Leary

October 26, 1944 - August 22, 2024

Modesto, California - Janet Johnson O'Leary was born on October 26, 1944 in Los Angeles California to Dayton and Ruby (LeFevre) Johnson. She graduated from Lodi High and went to Fresno State where she met and fell in love with Brian O'Leary. They married in 1968 and became parents to their daughter, Ali, and son, Trent. They settled in Modesto in 1980 where Janet taught at Woodrow Elementary and was a member of Modesto Garden Club, Wooden Nickel antique club, and PEO. She attended and loved Big Valley Grace Community Church. She loved music and even in her last days would light up when her favorites were played. Later in life she enjoyed her three beloved grandchildren, Kate, Claire, and Jack. She would never say no to a cup of tea, a piece of chocolate, or snuggles from her favorite dogs. She is survived by her husband Brian, son Trent, daughter Ali, son-in-law Nate, three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

I remember Janet from when we rode the bus to Lodi High from Lockeford/Clements area. She was one of the nicest and prettiest person you could ever meet. Always so positive. Last time I saw her at one of our reunions I asked how she was doing. Her response was "life was good". My sentiments exactly! RIP Janet. She will be missed. Alex Acosta Class of `62

My condolences to the family and friends. Janet was always such a lovely and kind person when I knew her in school. We were in some of the same classes, and I remember her as being a special girl. RIP and prayers to all.

I worked with Janet for many years at Woodrow School and she was kind, careful and so respectful of children, families, and colleagues. Her calm and quiet presence made people feel comfortable and heard. Glad to have known her.

Janet was a lovely, kind and Godly friend. We had so many wonderful times together
in times past. We loved to take day trips with Modesto Garden Club, especially to the Bouquet to Arts in San Francisco. Often times we got together to just chat and share about family and our gardens. We attended Women of Faith events in Sacramento many times. She aiways had kind words to share. I have and will miss her very much. My sympathy to her family.Sue Houser
