Jeanine Sallaberry Obituary
November 2, 1942 - January 25, 2023
Turlock, California - On January 25, 2023, our dear mom, grandmother and friend to so many, Jeanine Sallaberry passed away at age 80. Her essence and character nourished us until the end of this beautiful earthly existence of hers, and her spirit endures. She had so many amazing adventures, she traveled with Joe all over the world and made friends everywhere she went. She had a vibrant and wonderful life.
Jeanine was born in Ainhice Mongelos, located in the Basque region of France. She met Joe Sallaberry in 1961 and came to the United States in 1962. Two months later she married Joe in Old Mission, Santa Barbara. She shared in the work responsibilities with Joe, at a landscaping and sprinkler business in Chino, a dairy they owned in Turlock and for the pump business they established. Jeanine loved to cook, and she was quite an amazing chef. Eating healthy, from her abundant garden, with her family was important to her.
Jeanine was athletic and loved to play tennis, golf and to hike in the beautiful mountains in Mono Lake and in Yosemite. One of her favorite adventures was a multi-day wilderness trip using pack goats, and she was in such great shape, she even hiked like a mountain goat. Jeanine loved biking and in her late 60's she would ride her bike 30 - 100 miles in a day.
Jeanine is survived by her husband Joe Sallaberry, two daughters Solange and Michelle and two grandsons, Aden and Joseph. A celebration of life will be held on February 25th (Mass at 11:00 AM followed by lunch) at 5824 South Central Avenue in Turlock. Donations can be sent to Shriners or St. Jude Hospital. Thank you to all her beloved friends who were so precious to her. Knowing and loving each of you was the success story of her life! We will meet again, joyfully, on the other side.

Jeanine was a very special lady. I so enjoyed line dancing at Turlock Senior Center on Wednesday mornings with her. She enjoyed talking and encouraging the ladies more than line dancing. I will always remember her friendship and her bubbly personality. Jenifer Schaper.

Oh my! I´m so very sorry to hear of her passing. I had the pleasure of seeing her often when she did her grocery shopping at Raley´s. We had many heart to hearts in the short time she shopped. Peace be with you all. I´m sure she has her hiking boots on and I shall miss her.

Such a beautiful life gone to the other side to continue it even better. Jeanine was a faithful friend . I had the privilege to travel a lot with her to different countries.
