In 1956, Joen married Alberick Shamon, and the couple shared a loving marriage until Alberick's passing. Together, they lived in Chicago for 20 years before relocating to California in 1989.
Joen was a dedicated employee at Wilson Jones Paper Company for 16 years. After retiring, she devoted much of her time to volunteering at St. Thomas Assyrian Catholic Church, which was also a significant part of her spiritual life.
Her main hobbies were centered around her family and grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Joen's home was often filled with laughter and love, especially during family gatherings and celebrations. She also enjoyed tending to her garden.
Joen is survived by her sons, Fred (Nikki) Shamon and George (Bella) Shamon; daughter, Violet (Victor) Khananya; grandchildren, Alex (Nahrain), Danielle (Sean), Christina, Nadia, and Natalie; and a long list of nieces, nephews, and cherished family members who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Shamon, and sisters, Nanajan, Mary, and Jenny.
A funeral service will be held on March 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Assyrian Church in Turlock, CA. Burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
