Jeanne Weiss Obituary

Jeanne Weiss
September 27, 1938 - July 10, 2022
Carmel, California - Jeanne Weiss, 83, of Carmel, California passed away July 10th, 2022 of cancer.
Jeanne was born in Michigan in September 1938 to Evelyn and Gerald Watt where she grew up and met her husband Jerry. The couple were high school sweethearts and were married for over 60 years.
Jeanne studied Special Education at the University of Michigan and taught kindergarten while Jerry was attending medical school. When the couple moved to California Jeanne focused on raising her two children and was committed to her community by leading efforts with Omega Nu and with Family Service of Modesto.
Jeanne was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. Her love of children was generous and extended beyond her own family. She was a "mom to many" and her home was the destination for all the neighborhood kids. Jeanne has many friends and is adored by all. She also shared her love with many four-legged family members over the years.
Jeanne had a creative soul. She was a talented artist and worked both traditionally with her sketches and prints, as well as creating digital pieces. Gardening gave her much joy â€" Jeanne had a green thumb which was evident by the beautiful gardens both she and Jerry cultivated. Jeanne also loved entertaining â€" her creativity shined through in the many themed parties and events she hosted. She was passionate about music and the arts â€" as a piano player herself, Jeanne could be found starting the morning listening to classical music over a cup of coffee with friends. She and Jerry often enjoyed live theater and musical performances in San Jose and Carmel, especially the annual Bach Festival.
Jeanne led a joyous life, full of love, and was blessed with her many friends and with her family. She laughed easily and kept her humor to the end. She will be dearly missed. Jeanne is survived by her husband Jerome, sister Pat, her children Marc and Laura, Son-inâ€"law Erik, and her grandchildren Matthew and Ashley.
In keeping with Jeanne's wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jeanne's name to either the following non-profits, or to a charity of your choice: Monterey Bay Aquarium, SPCAâ€"Monterey County, or American Cancer Society.

I have to say in reading Jeanne's obituary all that was said of Jeanne is all there in truth and more regarding this amazing beautiful soul of a woman that we grew to know and love over so many years together. Jeanne always had time for those in need. She gave so much to the community of Modesto in the organizations that were close to her heart. For years on end, she organized a large Christmas Party with many different yearly themes for family and friends. Both Jeanne and Jerry would let friends stay in their beautiful Carmel home prior to them moving to Carmel permanently upon Jerry's retirement from medicine. Jeanne was so generous every year that she would go out and hand-pick a Christmas Ornament for Sarah & Kaitlin. Jeanne was someone you could always count on. Jeanne so loved her husband Jerry, children Laurie & Marc along with their two grandchildren to the moon and back. She loved her furry friends as well. When Jeanne's own mother Evelyn moved here to Modesto for more assisted care in her upper years Jeanne settled her mother in a home and took very good care of her. She loved to go help her mother in the garden something they shared joy in together. She had so many talents and included her children and neighborhood children in baking and frosting Christmas Cookies. You just do not find a woman in Jeanne as she was throughout her years with such dignity, caring hands, love, and enjoying life no matter who she was with. She was so creative and talented beyond words. It has taken me time to write my memory because I guess I do not want to believe she has departed us into heaven in which I can just see her helping the children and furry animals over the rainbow bridge with her outpouring of love to give them while she is with us in spirit especially giving that time to Jerry, their children, and grandchildren to make sure they will be okay. Many are grieving Jeanne's loss with our heartfelt prayers out to Jerry, her children, and grandchildren along with the extended families that over the years many of us were able to meet when they visited Jeanne and Jerry here in Modesto at their Edgebrook home. My own daughters and I will forever miss this beautiful woman and the family all together as it were as we move forward. God Bless "The Weiss Family" as we are all better people for knowing them and sharing our lives together. In my book, no one person can ever replace Jeanne now and forever while she can now be an angel continuing her journey until we all meet again while you are now at peace.
