Gerald Vernon McAtee passed away April 24, 2017 at home in Turlock, Ca.
Born in Oroville, Ca on September 15, 1929 to Doc and Annie McAtee, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara and his brother, Jack (Ines Carroll).
Jerry grew up playing sports and earned a spot on the Modesto JC football team, where he met his love, Barbara, in class. They would be married on October 6, 1951 and remain faithful till her passing in 2011. Football took him to SJ State which was interrupted by service in the Army Medical Corps during the Korean conflict. The Army helped shape his character and supplied him with new focus for his future. After the Army he returned to SJ State on the GI Bill, graduated, and landed a salesman position with a start-up company, Miles Laboratories, where he would excel for the next 38 years.
Always game for a challenge, Golf sank its teeth into him and he became impassioned about following a little white ball all over the world. Jerry loved Jazz, playing Tenor Sax since high school and being a benefactor for music programs throughout Northern California.
This man of great integrity, Gerald leaves behind two children, Scott (Jill) McAtee and Kris (Pat) Davis; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Acha, Cameron Davis, Jason McAtee, Amanda McAtee, Jessica McAtee, Keely McAtee and Luc McAtee. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, John and Lily Acha.
Jerry never met a stranger he didn't like. 
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6 at Turlock Presbyterian Church, 2619 N. Berkeley Ave., Turlock.
Gerald's loved ones would like to request that you wear your brightest colors, golf attire, or Hawaiian shirts to the service. After all, this is a celebration of his life!
