Joey Manrique Obituary

Joey Manrique
August 29, 1997 - April 23, 2021
Turlock, California - Joseph "Joey" S. Manrique, Lance Corporal (Meritorious) of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on April 23, 2021 in Denair, CA, at the age of 23. He was born in Modesto, CA on August 29, 1997. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Turlock High School and was part of the El Camino Cowboys. He worked as a Manager at Casey Moving Systems. In his spare time, Joey loved the outdoors, camping, biking, four wheeling and hanging out with his family and friends.
Joey, with his huge smile and personality, lit up a room every time he walked in to visit family or friends. He was one of the most kindhearted, respectful young men anyone could have had the privilege of knowing. Some of his dearest and closest friends have shared that Joey "was the guy that always had my back", "one of the most loved human beings I've ever met," "anyone who knew you, thought the world of you," "you were my best friend," "the guy that always helped me fix my truck," "my only wish is that you are looking down on all us El Camino Cowboys, knowing that we are all grieving for you and thinking about how much we all cherished having you around," "going camping with you, making bonfires are memories I will cherish for the rest of my life," "I just wish I could tell you I love you one last time."
Joey is survived by his mother Nicole Cannella, brother Dominic Manrique, father Jeffrey Manrique, step-mother Danielle Manrique, step-brothers Andy and Joey Hernandez, grandparents Donna and Sal Cannella, grandmother Sharon Manrique, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends (many who called Joey their brother), and fellow United States Marines.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who supported Joey along the way and who influenced him to become the very generous and hardworking man he was.
A heartfelt thank you to 1st Sergeant Ernesto R. Martinez, Casualty Assistance Representative of the United States Marine Corps and Laura Herzog, Executive Director of www.honoringourfallen.org, for all their support and guidance during this exceedingly difficult time.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 6 p.m., on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA 95380. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave., Turlock, CA 95380. Funeral procession will follow to the Garden of Valor at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA 95326.
