Joseph Brazil Obituary

Joseph A Brazil, Jr.
Oct 8, 1960 - Dec 25, 2014
Joseph A. Brazil, Jr passed away on December 25 at the age of 54.  Joseph "Joe" was born on October 8, 1960 in Gustine, CA.  He graduated from Gustine High School and later Fresno State College with a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Animal Science and a Teaching Credential in Agriculture.
Joe owned Western Livestock Genetics, a business he was very passionate about.  He had a great love for animals and raised and showed Hereford cattle for which he won State Fair titles.  He also enjoyed listening to country music and classic rock - often citing Alabama as one of his favorite groups. Joe had a big heart and volunteered annually to teach roping to students at a local elementary school.
Joe is survived by his wife Julia Southard and stepdaughter Alison Southard.  He is also survived by his brother Duane Brazil of Oakdale, and sister Barbara LeVake of Yuba City.  Joe was preceded in death by his brother Lionel Brazil and both parents.  He also has numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Oakdale Memorial Chapel.  A memorial service is scheduled for January 6 at 11:00 am.  Burial services will also be held on January 7 at 1:00 pm at the Glen Oak Memorial Park in Chico, CA.

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I only recently learned during a Livestock Judging Team Reunion for Fresno State. He was on the team the year before me. I remember Joe for his friendly nature and good sense of humor.

I have been thinking back on the old days when my cousin Joe and I used to play, he was never mean, always kind and gentle. My favorite cousin you might say. I don't know why god decided to take you away.
It breaks our hearts, so we all kneel and pray that we'll see him again some day.
Much Love,Kathy

My sincerest condolences to his family. Joe was both a classmate and a friend, reminding me of one infamous road-trip he and I did in 1977 but those details shall remain unspoken ?? Peace and comfort to his wife and daughter - Sincerely, David Allee
