Judith Yonan Obituary

Judith M. Yonan
March 21,1938 - March 24,2018
Judith M. Yonan, age 80, died on Saturday, March 24th, 2018 in Memorial Hospital, Modesto, Ca. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter K. Yonan, of Modesto.
She was born in Niles, Michigan, to Louise (Robertson) and James E. McGinn and was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Evanston, Illinois and attended Evanston High School and the University of Illinois. She worked for Zenith Radio Corporation where she met and married Peter in 1968. They moved to Modesto, Ca., in 1970, and made a home together for 35 years until Pete's death in 2003.
Judy worked for Modesto City Schools in the Regional Occupation Program as the administrative assistant to the director. She became an avid representative and negotiator for California School Employees Association. After her retirement in 2006, she devoted her time and services to Hospice House, Hughson, Ca.
She leaves behind her beloved family; her sons, Dr. Charles D. (Letha Nelson) Yonan, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Matthew P. (Amber Cuevas) Yonan, of Modesto, Ca., her step-daughter Gloria Y. (Harold "Hart") Kargenian, of Chicago, Il., her grandchildren, Peter Kargenian, Jack (Kirsten Malek) Kargenian, Emilie and Jan Yonan, Lucas and Andrew Yonan, three great grandchildren, and her sister LouAnn (McGinn) Wachli, of Huntley, IL., and many nieces and nephews.
Judy will be remembered by her family as a loving, caring mother and grandmother with an enduring devotion to her family and friends. She was a wonderful seamstress, cook and hostess. Her Christmas cookies were legendary.
The Yonan family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the friends and family who gave her their assistance during her illness.
A memorial will be held for local friends and family on April 14th, 2018, at 405 Andover Ln., Modesto, Ca., from 2pm-5pm, followed by a Celebration of Life and family reunion on July 21, 2018.
Memorials may be made in Judy's name to Hospice House, Hughson, Ca., or to the NorCal Boxer Rescue.

A true friend of over 50 years! We have many wonderful memories of our times with Judy and Pete - through good times and sad times. Although we've lived away from each other for many years now, we've always kept in touch. Judy, you'll be missed.

Our thoughts are with you, Chuck and Matt and your families. You were the loves of her life.

Love to you all,
Emmy and George

Judy was my Aunt and was everything they described about her and more. She was so kind but feisty, nurturing but strong. Just being around her you knew that something good was about to happen. I always felt heard and special when I had time with her. She was creative yet insiring with everything she'd involve you in.
She was really amazing, and will be missed.
I'm blessed that I could call her my family. Even though she joined us later in my life, she rose to the top of the list for sure.
My condolences to everyone who has endured this huge loss.

Judy, was the heart and soul of the ROP program and as a former Ag Teacher she was the mother to a lot of Ag Teachers as we began our careers. By blessings to the family, you had a wonderful mother and grandmother.
