Larry Wilcox Obituary
July 8, 1951 - February 17, 2024
Modesto, California - Larry passed at home after an ongoing battle with cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange while serving in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam.
He was born in Lamar, MO. to Lloyd and Flora (Campbell) Wilcox and was raised in Modesto. He retired in 2009 after driving a truck for 30 years for Save Mart at Yosemite Wholesale.
He and Janet were married for 35 years and spent his final years traveling, including Scotland, Ireland, England, and the U.S. He loved to hunt and fish and was proud of the 216 lb. halibut he caught in Alaska. He was a 12-year member of the Modesto P.D. Volunteers.
Larry is survived by his wife, son Christopher (Tamara), daughter Melicety (Michael), stepson Jason, grandsons Steven, Bryan, Jonathon and Matthew, his first great-granddaughter due in June, brother Keith (Vicki), niece and nephew Maegan and Jeremy, Uncles Jack (Lupe) Campbell, Fred (Connie) Campbell, many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and daughter Melissa.
Interment at San Joaquin Natl. cemetery, Santa Nella. Donations to American Cancer Society.

Larry was one of my favorite people from the first time I met him in 1997. He had a heart of gold and made everyone who met him feel special. I remember one time he was talking to my fiancé about fishing and then just said, "Let's go fishing sometime!" They went and John had a great time and spoke of this trip often. Larry often brought me "Gitzit" jigs and they were the gold standard of my day fishing. I am so happy our paths crossed and look forward to more fish stories when we meet again!
My most sincere condolences go out to his wife, kids and the rest of his sweet family.

Larry was a very close friend of mine. I will remember and cherish all the good times we shared and our great conversations. He was a one of a kind person who was always concerned and helping others. I will miss him greatly.
