Linda Barker Obituary

LINDA LEE BARKER
NOV 20, 1941 - OCT 27, 2012
Linda Barker passed away peacefully in San Francisco on October 27, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on November 20, 1941, in Berkeley, to Joe and Constance Mitchell (Rolfe). The family moved to Modesto shortly after. Linda graduated from Downey High School in 1959. She attended Modesto Junior College and received her AA degree in 1961. She married Michael Barker and they moved to the Monterey Peninsula. Linda moved to San Francisco in 2000. There she enjoyed visiting museums, trying new restaurants and volunteering at the SPCA of San Francisco.
Linda was a warm, outgoing, fun-loving person who had the ability to make anyone feel at home the minute they met her. She was a truly beautiful person inside and out. She was very artistic and especially loved painting. She was a wonderful mother to her daughters, Lisa and Kristin, always encouraging them to achieve their dreams.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Constance Rolfe, Joseph Mitchell and Bob Rolfe. Linda is survived by her daughters, Lisa Dunn of San Francisco and Kristin Vernon (Cameron) of Carmel; her granddaughter, Madison Vernon; her sisters Nancy Scheer and Signe Drury and her companion, Stephen Clark whom she loved with all her heart.
A private family gathering to honor her memory will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the donors favorite charity.

Linda was a dear friend from Enslen and Downey High School.
She was an incredibly sweet and talented person. We had many fun times together. It's hard to believe she is gone. My thoughts are with her family. She will be greatly missed.

When I see this picture of you it's so hard to believe you're gone. Your beautiful smile, your laughter, and your wonderful husky voice will be with me always. I love you sweet sister.

Dear Family,
So very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I remember her as a wonderful friend and neighbor. She had an ever present smile, was the kindest and most thoughtful person. Our families had many fun times living on our little cul-d-sac in Mission Fields. I will cherish all those memories forever.
Sincerely and God Bless,

Here's to you, Miss Linda. I have never met another human who has lived 9 lives like you! No one can deny your incredible strength and resilience. I hope I can still tell a few jokes and make you laugh just as well on the other side. I'll do my best to keep your sisters in line and in stitches until then for good measure. Lots of love being tossed your way. See you next in January.
Love,
Neil

My dear sister and guardian angel. You are one great sister! You always had my eyes popping at how progressive you were going off to high school in your black tights, skirt , and flats...and your sweater buttomed up the back. Nancy and I loved it when you babysat us...we knew it would be a fun (and a bit scary and exciting)time! Thank you darling girl for all your knowledge, your bright smile, your wonderful sense of humor....I will miss you, but know you're up there watching out for all of us! Love Signe.
