Lisa Adams Obituary

Lisa Katherine Adams

August 5, 1960 - April 4, 2024

Modesto, California - Lisa Katherine Adams was born August 5, 1960, in Ukiah, California. On April 4, 2024, Lisa went Home to be with her Lord after a five-year battle with cancer. She was 63.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents Don and Jane Zeek. She is survived by her loving husband Mark and her two sons, Peter and Paul. One of Lisa's greatest joys was her family, including brothers Garry (Sue), Paul (Terriann), Mark (Jennifer) and her many nieces and nephews. She was particularly close to her first cousins Tom Holladay, Patty Holladay, and Mary Holladay Briner who she considered siblings since they were very close throughout her life.

Lisa graduated from Ukiah High School in June of 1978. Lisa then embarked on her nursing journey that would become her passion and help shape so much of who she was. Lisa graduated with her LVN in 1979 from the Ukiah Adult School and passed her boards in July of that year. In 1982, she graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College in June and passed her Registered Nurse's Boards in July. After moving to Modesto, California and working as an RN for many years, Lisa felt that she wanted to help new nurses get started in the field, so she went back to school. Lisa graduated from the University of Phoenix with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in 2002. She continued her education in 2004 when she graduated from Sonoma State University with her MSN-FNP degree and then passed her Family Nurse Practitioner Boards in July of 2004.

Lisa taught nursing at California State University in Turlock for seven years. She loved nursing and often found herself training new nurses wherever she worked. Nursing was more than a career for Lisa. This was evident in the way she continued to mentor students going through nursing programs and assist them as they prepared for their state boards, even after she officially retired.

More than anything else in Lisa's life, her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ defined who she was and how she loved people. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her belief in God gave her joy even in the middle of the worst times. During her long fight with cancer, she remained faithful in the Spirit and continued to help those in need until the very end. Lisa's body might have given in, but through her faith and hope in her Lord, Lisa won the battle.

Lisa's Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 18th at 3:00 pm at CrossPoint Community Church in Modesto, with a reception to follow.

It was a joy to have Lisa on our drama team. With every project, she embraced learning new skills and was eager to give God her very best. I enjoyed her bright spirit, her intelligence and kindness. Her faith greatly inspired me. I´m so glad to know we will meet again.

Lisa has WON an eternal reward. Praises be to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His sacrifice so that Lisa can now know eternal peace in body and spirit. The JOY of The Lord was and forever will be Lisa's strength. May we all be encouraged by the fight she fought.
Mark, Peter and Paul.....live on as she would have you and may you always remember the eyes of your wife and momma. Eyes that smile contentment in all things. Eyes that would pierce the darkness, would never choose to settle yet would remain strong and resilient to the end.

Mark and Family,
I was so sadden to learn of Lisa's passing. She was a beautiful person both inside and out. Lisa and I had a lot of fun bunking with Kathy Weltner and Deb Rowe at Tweenage Summer Camps. Though our many conversations it was clear that Lisa loved God and her family more than anything else. They were the most thing to her. Mark, you and your family are in my prayers during this difficult time.
