Louis Jiminez Obituary

Louis P. Jiminez
August 1930 - February 24, 2016
Louis Jiminez passed away at his home on February 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years, his children and his nurse Freddie Laureta.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Lupe, brothers Bill, Frank Steve, Prospero, Felix and Rutilo.
He is survived by his wife Elvera, sons Mike, Greg (Liz) and Bob, daughters Liz Perez (Mike), Renee Troy (Terry), sisters Vicki Van Buren of Stockton, Margaret Tapia of Tracy, nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter and numerous nephews and nieces.
Louie loved his family and friends and lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed nothing more than to be with his family at holidays and birthdays. He was an avid fan of the A's and would be so excited when a family member took him to see a game. His home is full of A's T shirts, baseball caps, baseballs and such. His other passion was to travel, which his wife Elvera also enjoyed. They were able to take many trips to different locations in the world. After, when he could no longer fly, they would visit Monterey, San Francisco and Yosemite. Louie served two years in the army and was stationed in Germany where he was selected to play baseball. He was recently featured in a book about Mexican American baseball in the valley along with many of his friends from Riverbank. The book was written by Professor Richard Santillan of southern California.
Louie was a member of St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Seniors, St. Vincent de Paul, American Legion and the Gallo for the Arts Amigo.
A visitation from 4-8pm with a rosary at 6pm held at Salas Brothers Funeral Home, Scenic Drive, on Monday Feb 29, with the funeral mass Tuesday, March 1, 9:30am at St. Joseph's Church, 1813 Oakdale Rd.  A luncheon will follow at the church hall. Donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Joseph's Church, 1813 Oakdale Rd., Modesto, CA 95355.

I was looking online for my dad's pics in the Mex/Am baseball books by Mr. Santillan and Mr. Jimenez Obituary popped up. I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Jimenez was such a nice man and like a brother to my dad. They are now together in heaven, probably playing baseball. My prayers are with you all. R.I.P. Mr. Jimenez
