MARIA DEL CARMEN PALAZUELOS AUG 15, 1917 - AUG 23, 2010 Maria del Carmen Palazuelos, 93, of Modesto, died Monday at English Oaks Convalescent Hospital after a nine year stay under the excellent care of nurses and staff. She was born in Cuba and migrated to the United States in 1966 for political reasons. She has lived in Modesto since 1982. Maria was a strong woman physically, mentally, and spiritually. She was an elementary school teacher who loved children, and loved to sing and play the piano. She spent countless hours reading and sharing her knowledge with those who would listen. She loved to talk. In her later years, she was a consummate housekeeper, disciplined, organized, and methodical. All her tasks were done on specific days of the week. She was well known for her famous "lists". She had no vices and took no pleasure in food. Her strong belief in God helped her accept all the challenges of life with grace and dignity without complaints. She prayed her rosary twice a day and watched her mass on TV everyday. Viewing will be held at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel on August 31 from 4-8pm with a rosary at 6:00pm. A private burial will be held at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery the following day.
