Mary Cox Obituary

Mary Kathleen Lathrop Cox

September 27, 1941 - February 28, 2025

Hilmar, California - Mary Kathleen Lathrop Cox, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted educator, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born on September 27, 1941, Mary dedicated over two decades as a Special Ed teacher in the Gustine Unified School District. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom, as she nurtured not only her own family but also the countless lives she touched throughout her career.

Mary found joy in exploring the world, her love for travel taking her to many wonderful places. Whether discovering new destinations or sharing stories of her adventures, she embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm.

She is survived by her loving son, Kelly J. Cox; and her devoted daughter, Lorie A. Guinard. Mary was also a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and wisdom will live on through them. She is also fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Mary's legacy is one of dedication, love, and adventure. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Rosary service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, at 7 p.m., followed by a Memorial Mass on Thursday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her memory to Habitat for Humanity, Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center, Holy Rosary Building Fund, or a charity of choice.

Rest in peace, Mary. Your journey continues in the hearts of those you touched.
