Mary & Family,
Shocked to hear this news, my heart goes out to you, Nate's wife Shelley, his children, and your entire family. I remember what a rock Nate was for you at times, and what a wonderful personality he shared with so many. There simply are not words for such a loss, but know that you all are in thoughts and prayers of my family.

I am very fortunate and honored to have known Nate since we both attended Palma Jr. High School together. He was always the class clown and got along with everyone. Nate "The Great" as he appropriately signed my Jr. High Yearbook, and I, continued our friendship during our time at Palma High School and College and even Law School. We sat next to each other in class during our Law School years and studied together for our Final exams. This is when I met Shelley, who he considered his rock and the shining light of his life. One particular memory that stands out is during our Law School Civil Procedure class in which a mock jury was assembled which had included his Mom Mary. He started by addressing the jury and said,"Ladies, Gentlemen, Mom..." This was hilarious and the courtroom erupted in laughter. He also told me that his son Ryan was named after one of his favorite baseball players, Nolan Ryan. He said that he and Shelley had compromised and although he wasn't able to name him Nolan Ryan Baker, then name Ryan Baker worked for them both. He was always the quintessential friend, husband, father and family man and he will be missed deeply. My deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers are for his family and I hope that you can find solace in knowing that someday you will all be reunited. You were his reason for living and you can rest assured that he will be watching over each of you daily. Until we meet again Nate, thanks for the great memories over the years and I know that although we have lost someone who is truly irreplaceable, Heaven has gained a wonderful soul.

May Gods spirit be with Nathan's family and friends as we all recover and adjust to life as it is now. Nathan was a stength to myself and the rest of the family of Bill Moore Foletta after his body was discovered and during these long months of waiting for the killer being brought to justice. I am prayerfull he was able to somewhat prepare another person to take over in his absence.
With regards,

Nate Baker was the epitome of what we should all strive to be. He was a devoted husband and father. He was dedicated to his work and treated his colleagues and support staff with professional respect and charming humor. His actions spoke volumes of his integrity and he leaves a huge hole, not only in our office, but in this community. I will miss his ability to cheer up a room simply by his entrance. I'm honored to have worked with Nate and I pray that he can feel the love that is pouring out for him. My deepest sympathy to the Baker family, he loved and cherished you all so much. May God give you peace.

I was Nate's Principal at Palma High School in Salinas in the 1980s and one of the lasting memories I have of him was his going out of his way to ask me how my father was doing after my dad had had cancer surgery in 1984. I was so touched by his thoughtfulness that I was moved to tears. I give my sincere and prayerful condolences to his family and friends.

I'm going to miss my friend more than words can express. Nate was one of those rare people whom, when in his presence, it was impossible not to smile. God's Peace buddy.

Nate was the heart and soul of our office. No one could ever say a negative thing about him. He was our big teddy bear. It was hard for me to remember Shelley's name because to us she was his "Princess". He loved her and his children so much. We would always compare them to the Cleaver's on Leave It To Beaver. They were the perfect family. We will miss you Nate. I thank you for all the wonderful memories you left behind. You will always make me smile.
