Modesto, California - Nicole Ruth "Ruthie" Baker Pepelis was born in Modesto, Ca on April 19, 1960, the second daughter of the late Jerry and Beatrice "Bea" Pepelis, granddaughter of the late Bill and Ruth Callas. Ruthie was a spirted young woman and while attending Davis High School she was a majorette and led the marching band. She attended Fresno State, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and was rush chair for her sorority Delta Zeta. Following college she opened a tanning salon called "Electric Beach". Additionally, she was chosen Miss Fresno County. While Ruthie never lost her wonderful smile and bubbly "fill the room with energy persona", a number of traumatic accidents and health issues led to her passing on August 30, 2024. She is survived by her loving sister Canella "Carol" Pepelis.
Services will be held on September 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 313 Tokay Ave, Modesto, CA. Interment will take place at Acacia Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow the interment at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in the community hall.

I remember Ruthie and her family from summers at Lake Tahoe in the early 1970´s. The family rented a house near us and we all hung out together. Ruthie was energetic, always had a smile or was always laughing about something.
