RAMON S. SOTELO FEB. 3. 1936 - NOV. 20, 2006 Ramon S. Sotelo was born in Brawley, CA on February 3, 1936 and died unexpectedly on November 20, 2006 in Los Banos, CA.
He is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Although he was an only child, he was embraced and loved by his wife's eleven brothers and sisters, many of which were cbaperones on his dates with his much loved wife of 48 years, Maria Gloria Grijalva Sotelo.
He was a hard-working and talented agricultural mechanic who could fix anything. He was always tinkering with something and spent a lot of his early years working very hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his children and grandchildren, visiting family in Mexico, barbecuing, telling stories about his childhood and dancing. Most of all he enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching his grandsons play football.
During the last 30 years he worked for Lindemann Farms, Edward Azhedarian River House Farm, Lifetime Doors and Linnemann Ranch as an agricultural mechanic.
Ramon was preceded in death by his mother and father, Adela and Ramon Sotelo, parents in law, Jesus & Rita Grijalva; sister-in-law Amelina Salas, brothers-in-law Joaquin Grijalva, Abelardo Fimbres, Louie Manzanedo & Luis Torres. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, his children and their spouses: Ramon Jr. & Sylvia Sotelo, Albert & Colleen Sotelo, all of Modesto, CA; Veronica Sotelo and Todd Morris of Los Banos, CA; Anthony Sotelo of San Joaquin, CA; Bill & Gloria Furnish of Kerman, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Steven Ray, Samuel, Noah, Ethan, Silvio & Alex Ramon, all of Modesto,CA; Adam Sotelo of Hilmar, CA; Eric & Aaron Ramon Helm, Tyler & Taryn Morris, Michelle Furnish & Chauncey Lee, all of Los Banos, CA; Melissa Furnish & Jason Erratchu, Cassandra Ramirez & Teddy Furnish of Kerman, CA. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Jayson Erratchu of Kerman, CA and his great-grand-daughter, Caidyn Lee of Los Banos, CA; his best friend Roberto Cintora and his beloved dog, Rainbow Jill.
In addition, he is survived by his beloved in-laws, Aida & Paul Manzanedo, Lily Altamirano of Los Banos, CA; Auduelia & Luis Saucedo of Woodland, CA; Aldaberto & Carlota Fimbres of Yolo, CA; Jessie & Alfred Gutierrez of Brawley, CA; Esperanza & Joe P. Maya of Hanford, CA, Margaret Grijalva of Bakersfield, CA; Jesus & Trini Grijalva of Anaheim, CA; Ofelia Torres of El Centro, CA and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
As Ramon was a cancer survivor, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are pending at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, Los Banos.
