Raymond Hunt Obituary

RAYMOND L. HUNT APRIL 27, 1943 - JULY 17, 2008 Born in San Diego, CA, Ray moved to Modesto at 7 years of age. He attended Modesto High School from 1957-60 and graduated from Downey High School in 1961. He continued his education at Modesto Junior College, with his sights set towards a degree in architecture. After marrying Sandra Waterbury in 1965, Ray responded to his call into ministry and attended Warner Pacific College in Portland, OR where he earned a bachelors degree in Christian Education. For the next twenty years he remained a minister of the gospel through the Church of God (centered in Anderson, Indiana) and followed God's call across the United States. Returning to Modesto, Ray worked for the City of Modesto for 19 years. He completed his service in the Parking department, where he enjoyed meeting the daily challenges working with Special Projects. His interests included boating, American history, designing and building his own home, and, above all, spending time with his family. Ray took delight in planning a trip to the East Coast. While there with his family, he was taken home to be with the Lord. His family includes his wife of 43 years, Sandra Hunt, and their three sons, Ryan, Christopher (Debbra), and Patrick (Bethany). He adored his seven grandchildren, Jaxson, Maxwell, Dawson, Taylor, Ethan, Nathaniel and Diana. Ray is survived by his mother, Ruby Hunt, and preceded in death by his father Raymond Hunt. We now place him in our Heavenly Father's hands, knowing that, Now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face...'' (I Corinthians 13:12). The family has been encouraged by the love and support demonstrated by our family and friends over the course of the past several months. We thank you. We will be celebrating Ray's life with a service held at First Baptist Church (12th Street and Needham) on Thursday, July 31st, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. As an alternative to flowers, donations may be made to the Deacons' Fund at First Baptist Church.www.modbee.com/obituaries

Sandra and family,

Sorry to hear of Ray's passing. We know he is in God's hands now. May God give you many good memories of the years you had together and the vision of being reunited one day.

Dear Sandra and family,
Ray was there for me during a difficult time in my life when I was a teenager. Although I didn't keep in touch with the family, I thought of you all often. My thoughts and prayers are with you now too.
