Turlock, California - Richard E. Fernandes passed away on December 11, 2023 at the age 86. Richie was born in Modesto on March 21, 1937 to his parents Joe and Josephine Fernandes.

Richie spent his early years in Tracy and Waterford but lived most of his life in Turlock and Modesto. He graduated from Turlock High School in 1955 where he met his wife, Josie.

Richie loved his work as a farm equipment salesman, selling for JM Equipment for 57 years and then for AGMEC for a few years. He farmed a small parcel of his own land in Turlock and even raised pigs for a while. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to read, to learn, to dance and travel.

Richard Edward Fernandes leaves behind his wife Josie of 63 years, daughter Kathy Fernandes & partner, Sue Kamrar, son-in-law Mark Mott, son Donnie Fernandes & wife, Alta; Grandchildren: David Isaiah Kamrar, Corinne Kamrar, Morgan Mott, Madison Mott Ureno, and Allie Fernandes; and Great Grandsons: Cru, Mav, and Jett Gutierrez; and Great-granddaughter, Audra Kamrar. He also leaves behind his 6 siblings, Shirley (Dan) Coelho, Julianne (Bud) Rosa, Kathy Letras, Larry Fernandes-Lisa, Garry Fernandes, and Debbie (Tom) White, and many relatives of the large Fernandes family.

Richie was preceded in death by his parents and his 39-year-old daughter, Dr. Karen Fernandes Mott, D.C.

Richie leaves a legacy of honesty, loyalty, integrity, strong work ethic, a sense of humor, and the ability to tell a good story… or two… or three or whatever you had time for. His stories touched the hearts of family, friends, and colleagues. He will be missed by many and those in the central valley who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 2nd, 4:00 to 6:00pm at Turlock Funeral Home followed by rosary recitation at 6pm.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, January 3rd, at 11:00am at Our Lady of Assumption church, 2602 S. Walnut Rd, Turlock, 95380.
