February 2, 1953 - August 22, 2025
Huntington, West Virginia - Richard Alan Murphy ("Rich"), 72, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, in Huntington, West Virginia. He was born on Feb. 2, 1953 to Bud and Sonja Murphy in Kingsburg, CA.
In his youth, Rich was in Cub and Boy Scouts, roamed Modesto on his bike, played pranks on his sisters and played high school football and wrestled. He graduated from Downey High School in 1971 and attended MJC and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
He loved the outdoors and spent his working years as an apricot farmer, crop duster, farm manager, owned Murphy's Burrowing Rodent Control and was employed by the Forestry Service.
In 1996, Rich married Paulette Wey, his companion and kindred spirit. Together they camped in their trailer with friends and hosted neighborhood get togethers and guitar sessions with old friends from high school. They enjoyed gardening, hanging out with their dogs and watching sunsets.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Paulette, son Casey (Jen), grandson Cayden, stepson Stevie Wey (Cindy), granddaughters Paris and Fiona Wey, sisters Sandy Gregory and Kathleen Benn (David), numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Walter.
Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Huntington, Inc. P.O. Box 464 Huntington, WV 25709.

Burial will be private.

Oh so many memories our neighbors and friends for years always got together in Rich and Paulette´s garage had campfires. Everybody brought something to eat. We drank our wine and Rich loved his whiskey. Happy times always.
