Robert Chenoweth Obituary

Robert Chenoweth
May 6, 1942 - April 25, 2021
Modesto, California - Robert (Bob) Chenoweth, 78, of Modesto, California passed away on April 25, 2021 after a brief illness. Bob was born on May 06, 1942 to Arthur and Remedios Chenoweth in Manila, Philippines. He is predeceased by his parents and younger brother, Albert David Chenoweth. At age nine, the family moved to San Lorenzo, California where he attended grammar schools then graduated as a San Lorenzo High School "Rebel" in 1942. Bob and his brother, Al were active in athletics with Bob lettering in Football, Baseball and Wrestling. He loved Bay Area sports teams, especially the California Bears, the Oakland A's, and the Oakland Raiders.
Bob and Minerva were married on January 29, 1983. He worked in Transportation Services as owner/operator shuttle/van service to major airports in the greater SF- Bay Area. In 1995 he retired and moved to the Big Island of Hawaii with wife, Minerva. Both were involved as members and volunteers in a number of Senior Programs (RSVP) serving the churches, schools and communities at large in Pahoa, Hawaii. They were members of Pu'ula United Church of Christ (PUCC) and Puna Covenant Church in Hawaii. In 2016, they moved back to California settling in Modesto and joined College Avenue United Church of Christ (CAUCC). Both found their church family and as Bob loved to "talk story" with anyone in church and in our neighborhood, many friendships were made and treasured in both Hawaii and California. His engaging presence, love and words of encouragement shared with our families and friends will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Minerva, his son Raymond (April) and family of Virginia, Kim Barrett and family of Arizona, stepsons, Gareth (Valerie) Green and family of Antioch, Ca., Gavin (Kathleen) Green and family of New Jersey, Christopher Green and family of Modesto, Ca and step-daughter, Anita Green and family of Martinez, Ca. With great joy he lived to see great grandsons, Liam Theodore born to grand-daughter Nialani (Bobby) Gaultney of Switzerland and Kaleo Amor born to grand-daughter, Asia Green (DeJuan) of Martinez, Ca in year, 2021. Also, sisters, Jean (Renee) Requilman of Candelaria, Philippines and Elizabeth (Roy) Ecoff and family of Astoria, Oregon. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved Great-Aunt Anita Chesley and family of Berkeley, Ca.
A celebration of life memorial is pending at this time. Bob's family would like to thank the cardiology staff at Doctor's Hospital in Modesto for his care and all members and friends of College Avenue United Church of Christ for their outpouring of love, comfort and support. In lieu of flowers and other gifts, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite veterinary service of choice or to the Hawaii Island Humane Society, Kea'au Shelter on the Big Island of Hawaii in Bob's honor. Further notice and date for his memorial will be given. The Green and Chenoweth families extend our deepest Mahalo (thank you) to all families and friends in Hawaii and California.
