Rubye Jones Obituary

Rubye Gordon Martin Jones
November 7, 1918 ~ October 18, 2014
"I was born November 7, 1918 to Marion and Ella Martin.  The day I was born there were horns blowing and bells ringing because they thought World War One was over, but they were really celebrating 'My Birth'.  The war was over four days later.  My parents took our family to church every Sunday, First Baptist Church in Lexington (Oklahoma). I had 3 sisters, Addie Mae, Marion & Dale.  They as well as my parents are all deceased.
I was preceded in death by my loving husband of 28 years, Sam.
"I attended Lone Star Elementary School eight years.  I also graduated from Lexington High School.  I married Sam Jones of Purcell, Oklahoma on September 10, 1938 the same year I graduated from High School.  Both my husband, Sam and I accepted Jesus as our Savior in January 1939.  We moved from Oklahoma to Arizona in 1939.
"While living in Waterford, I was a Charter member of the Waterford Southern Baptist Church.  I was a member of Community Baptist church in later years.  My husband and I always had our home open to the young people of the church in Waterford.  We had parties, hayrides and lots of fun trips.  The young people of the church seemed like our own.
"My husband, Sam, and I owned and operated Sam's Drive-In in Waterford for 12 years. After Sam passed away, I sold my home and moved to Modesto where I worked at Modesto City Hospital for 19 years. I was an active member of First Baptist Church of Modesto, working with children up to college age.   In later years I had to move to Turlock to a board & care home, Cypress of Emanuel.  I made many friends here and enjoyed living here and going to Bible Study also church on Sunday.
"My daughter, Sandra, and  her husband have taken very good care of me and see that I  get the things I need  also take me to doctors appointments in Modesto.  Thank you, Jesus for a daughter that I can depend on to take care of her mother.
"I am survived by three children:  Sandra Lea Waggle (Steve) of Modesto; Keith Jones (Nancy) of Turlock; and Nancy Smallwood of Sebastopol.
Grandchildren:  Bret Smallwood (Jennifer) of Santa Rosa, Kathi Freeman of Novato, Chris Carlson (Ryan) of San Jose, Spencer Moen of Seattle, Drew Moen of Reno, NV; Mary Beth Moen Clausen (Matthew) of Los Angeles;  Robin Jones of Modesto, and Mark Smallwood of Modesto.
Great-grandchildren:  Caelyn, Sandee, Reyn, Bryce, Charlotte, Gavin, Preston, Audrey, Lula, Trevor, Shay & Sequoia.
Niece:  Janice Horn (Ray) of Chico.  Nephews:  Al Menshew (Loretta) of Turlock, Tom Yeary (Becky) of Oklahoma, Darrell Claunch of Oklahoma, Larry Claunch of Oklahoma."
The above was handwritten by Rubye G. Jones
The family wishes to thank Ruth Villarreal and the staff at Cypress of Emanuel in Turlock, CA for the many years of loving care that was extended to Rubye.  We are also  thankful for the nurses and staff at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation in Modesto for their care & kindness during her stay there.

Dearest Rubye-

Can't believe you are really gone. You were THE BEST to me! I will miss our talks about life past and the present.

You were a Godly influence in my heart and life. You taught me so much; sometimes by saying nothing at all. I will miss all the times you had me over for dinner.

I know you are sitting at Jesus feet; he has surely called another angel home.

Will love and miss you; your heart is etched on mine. Until me meet again...

Love you, Karen
