Shannon Carter Obituary

SHANNON QUINN CARTER NOV. 25, 1972 - OCT. 21, 2007 Shannon Quinn Carter, of Roseville, CA, loving wife to Michael Carter, and adoring mother of Quinn and Emma, lost her courageous four year battle with brain cancer on Sunday, October 21, 2007. Shannon was born on November 25, 1972 in Fullerton, California. She was an All-American swimmer at TVstin High School and an Academic All-American swimmer at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where she graduated in 1996 with a degree in business. She had a distinguished career working for ADP and Merck before retiring'' and becoming a full-time mother. She was second to none at that job and raised two beautiful girls with Michael.

Shannon was in awe that so many people loved her, but it was easy to do. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and love. There will not be a day that goes by that we will not be thinking of her with special memories.

Shannon is survived by her husband Michael, and her daughters Quinn Keely Carter and Emma Collier Carter; her parents Jim and Betsy Quinn of Palm Springs; her sister Kelli Cole and brother-in-law David Cole, and their children Kati and Thomas o San Luis Obispo; sister-in-law Kellie Herstam and her husband Cole Herstarn of Loomis; father-in-law Bob Carter and mother-in-law Chris of Mill Valley; mother-in-law Sallie Kjellberg and father-in-law Sem of Oakdale; step-brother Matt Kelly and sister-in-law Julie, as well as their children Will, Drew and Karlee of Penryn; step-brother Ryan Kelly of Auburn, Alabama; step-brother and sister-in-law Tait and Tatiana Kjellberg of Rocklin, and step-brother and sister-in-law Eric and Sarah Kjellberg of San Francisco. She also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and very special friends.

We will miss her deeply but never forget her.

Mike, I don't know if you remember, but I was librarian in the Oakdale HS when you were a student there. My cousin Dave Stallard and his family have kept me informed about you and yours through the years. Even though I never met her, I share your grief at Shannon's death.
Here is a thought that came to me many years ago, when someone I loved was dying:
To watch the sun go down is just illusion;
Our postions change. We call it Night.
And so perhaps a death is like a sunset:
The light--and life--shine on, but past our sight.
