Shawn Amador Obituary

Shawn Amador

November 29, 1954 - July 18, 2025

Maricopa, Arizona - Shawn Amador, 70, of Maricopa, Arizona passed away on July 18, 2025. She was born in Beacon, NY as Shawn Marjorie Clauss to Edward and Maryann Clauss. In 1967, her family moved to Modesto, California. Shawn was a 1972 graduate of Modesto High School. In 1977, Shawn met and married Gary Amador of Modesto, where they made their home until Shawn retired from Modesto City Schools in 2014. It was then that they moved to Maricopa, Arizona.

Though her retirement years were suddenly shortened by her unexpected death, she enjoyed a very busy and active lifestyle. Shawn and Gary did a lot of traveling. She spent much of her retirement time playing golf, pickleball and line dancing in their active adult community. Shawn made a lot of friends through these activities which made her very well known throughout the Province Community.

But what she really loved and enjoyed the most was spending time with her children and her four precious grandsons. Shawn was adamant about traveling all over the Phoenix metro area to watch and support her Arizona grandsons in their athletic and school endeavors. Likewise, Shawn and Gary would travel numerous times a year up to the northwest to watch and cheer on their grandsons, in their games and activities, in Washington State.

Shawn is survived by her husband Gary; children Christopher (Stacy) Amador of Gilbert, Arizona and Ashley (Matt) Bouma of Lynden, Washington; her grandchildren, Preston and Miles Amador of Gilbert, AZ and Levi and Oliver Bouma of Lynden, WA; her father Armand Paull and wife Susan of Palm Desert, CA; sister Jody McBride of CA and Hilary Eutzy of NY; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Will and Vicky Amador of Denair, CA; Bruce and Regina Amador of Turlock, CA; John and Karen Webster of Modesto, CA, along with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in Modesto, CA on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Stanislaus Veterans Center, 3500 Coffee Rd, Suite 15.

A second celebration of life will be held in Maricopa, AZ on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the Province Community Town Hall on Smith Enke Rd.

We are so saddened by Shawn´s death. Kip, her cousin, kept up with her on Facebook after Sandy´s death. We were both very close to Sandy. I, Jane Potter Fleming,am from Wells, NY where Sandy spent a lot of time. Kip has lost both of his siblings, Candy and Jack. I hope Jody and Hilary will stay in touch with us on Facebook. We live in Georgia, but visit Wells in the summer. Kip remembers Armand also. Please tell him how saddened we are .

What a breath of sunshine, Shawn was. I remember seeing her, for the first time, in a long time at Jackson´s wedding. She was everything I had remembered, still the gracious, well put together lady , that acted like we hadn´t missed a day. My heart breaks to hear of her untimely passing. My prayers and comfort, I´m sending to all of Shawn´s family, especially to Gary and the kids, and I know the hurt her baby sister is feeling.
Godspeed Shawn, you´ll be missed and loved. Sincerely saddened, Corky Price.

Our daughters grew up together . Ashley was either at our house or Missy was at theirs. She was a great lady and they raised a very sweet daughter. My heart goes out to them. May God Heal their hearts in time. Shawn leaves a big hole in a lot of lives. Love you Ash

When I was a new teacher at Modesto High in 1970, I was struggling every day, unsure of myself and surviving on energy and enthusiasm to make up for my lack of knowledge and experience. I was blessed to have Shawn and her partner in crime, Teri Cullen, volunteer to be my classroom aides. They were smart, efficient, and gorgeous, especially Shawn, who looked like Cindy Crawford in embroidered hip-hugger jeans. They organized my classroom, kept track of my schedule, and generally assisted me, but their real value was giving me confidence. They convinced me that I could do the job, that I would be a great teacher, and encouraged me to keep improving. I can't believe that beautiful Shawn is no longer with us! My heart goes out to Gary and her family; what a wonderful woman, and what a loss!

Gary and I retired the same year from Downey High, he from the social science department and I from the English department. He left an enduring legacy of excellence in teaching and coaching at the high school. I was told by several faculty members of the loss of his precious and supportive wife Shawn. Our prayers are with him and his family during this difficult and challenging time.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I sat next to Shawn at MCS
for quite a few years, and she always brought light to everyone around her. She left me with some great memories. Praying for your family to rely on God to help you through this very difficult time.
