Stephen Edward Freitas was born January 8, 1941 in Merced, CA. He passed away October 3, 2011 in Merced, CA. Stephen served in the Vietnam War and then attended Merced College where he received an AA degree. Stephen loved to read and write. He wrote and published several poems and was a member of The Merced Writers Club. Stephen is served by 10 nieces and nephews, Matthew and Lisa Freitas, Clare Freitas, Clementine Freitas Cowie, Joshua Freitas, John and Susan Freitas, Joann and Christopher White, Janet and Dennis Soares, Judy and Wayne Newquist, Jacquie Freitas, and Jeffery M. Freitas. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Mamie Freitas, and two brothers, John Freitas and Joseph L. Freitas. He was especially close to all of his cousins. A rosary will be said on Wed. Oct 12, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at The Immaculate Conception Church. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Wed. Oct. 12, 2011 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Family Funeral Chapel, 1290 Winton Way, Atwater, CA. 95301.
