Tony Martinez

1937 - 2025

Tony V. Martinez was born on January 16th, 1937 in Brawley, California and entered into rest on November 1st, 2025 in Ceres, California at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Bobbie, his son James, his father Fortunato, his mother Julia, brothers Cosme, Frank, Junior, Joe and Greg, and sisters Isabel and Esther. He is survived by his daughters Kimberly and Jocelyn, sons Anthony and Danny, brothers Danny, Percy, David, Frank and Richard, and sisters Vella, Martha, Serah and Rachel. He also had eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and too many nieces and nephews to count.

Tony loved sports, first competing as an athlete, and later as a devoted fan. He was on his high school football and wrestling teams. Wrestling was a family sport that his brothers, sons and nephews also enjoyed. He loved watching all sports but especially the Raiders, SF Giants, and recently tennis matches featuring Carlos Alcaraz.

The Martinez family was heavily involved in farm labor and trucking, and in his youth, Tony worked alongside them in that business. It was during this time he met his future bride, Bobbie Towler. They were married in 1960, and not long after he started working in the construction industry as a framer. He later earned his contractor's license and started his own contracting business. Tony actively continued his construction activities into his 80's.

Tony had a heart of gold, and nothing was too big of an ask. He was always there for his family and friends and would do anything he could for them, asking nothing in return.

Services.

Viewing: Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, 419 Scenic Drive in Modesto.

Church Service: Thursday, November 13, 2025 10:00 a.m. at Apostolic Assembly, 917 Sonora Avenue in Modesto. Burial will follow the service at 11:30 a.m. at the Ceres Memorial Park, 1801 East Whitmore Avenue. Luncheon will be served afterwards at the Apostolic Assembly.
