Trudi Sigmon Obituary

Gertrude (Trudi) Faith Sigmon was born in Luverne, MN to Paul and Florence Bloemendaal.

She died of chronic systolic heart failure.

As a child, Trudi moved to Ceres, CA in 1960.

She attended Carroll Fowler Elementary, Walter White Junior High, and graduated from Ceres High School in 1968.

Trudi was married to Steven Sigmon in 1970, and they raised two children – Brooke and Jon – at their home in Modesto. She worked at E. & J. Gallo Winery for over ten years, and later obtained a BA in Liberal Studies from California State University, Stanislaus in 2001.

After graduating, Trudi taught at Dena Boer Elementary, Sisk Elementary, and Salida Middle School, concluding her career as a testing coordinator at Chapman/Brandman University, before retiring in 2020.

Trudi is preceded in death by her husband Steve, her parents, and her brother Randy. She is survived by her brother Rick Bloemendaal, her daughter Brooke (Jeremy) Plaa of Turlock, CA, son Jonathan (Allison) Sigmon of Lakewood, CA, grandchildren Braden Plaa, Tanner Plaa, and Jenna Plaa of Turlock, CA, and many in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, a multitude of friends, and her cat Elvira.

Trudi liked spending time with her husband, family, friends, and Delta Kappa Gamma colleagues; going to theatrical plays at the Gallo, watching movies, traveling, camping, all things Downey High School and UCLA.

Brook and Jon you could not have been raised by anyone more special than the parents that you had. What a true family with such great love. Your mom and dad made God proud just as you both will continue. God bless you and all of your family.

Brooke and Jon,
Sending you most sincere condolences for the loss of your mom. I am one of the Luverne relatives and will miss my cousin very
much. The last time she visited this area she stayed with me and we stayed up waay too late each night chatting and laughing, laughing & laughing. Sending you both huge hugs.

To Brooke and Jonathan,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew Trudi growing up just down the street on Joy Avenue in Ceres. We all walked to school back then, so we pretty much saw each other most days. Your mom was always very pleasant and smiley, so it was easy to be around her and enjoy her company.
I'm happy to see that she lived a full and productive life, with grandkids to make it even better.
My prayers are that you find strength and comfort in Jesus...
