Modesto, California - Victor Van Nguyen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, at the age of 73. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, on June 1, 1951, Victor lived a life marked by service, adventure, and unwavering kindness.
Raised by his grandparents, Victor was one of nine siblings, with six brothers and two sisters. His early years in Vietnam shaped his resilient spirit and set the foundation for a life of remarkable experiences.
Victor's journey of service began early when he worked as an English translator for the American Embassy in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. His commitment to his country led him to join the South Vietnamese Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he served from 1969 to 1975, stationed in Da Nang and Bien Hoa.
In 1980, Victor embarked on a new chapter of his life, immigrating to the United States and settling in Modesto, California on May 24th. It was here that he found his true calling as a ranch manager for Britton Konynenburg Partners from 1981 until his passing in 2024. Victor's love for nature and his joy in watching the trees blossom each spring before harvest made the farm his second favorite place on earth, surpassed only by being at home with his family.
Victor is survived by his loving wife, Kim Nguyen, his daughter Sarah Fitzpatrick, and his cherished grandson, Fox Fitzpatrick. His legacy lives on through them and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.
A man of faith, Victor was an active member of First Baptist Church, later known as Crossroads Community Church, from 1981 to 2024. He served as a local missionary and was deeply involved in the church's Asian support and outreach program, demonstrating his commitment to helping others and building community.
Victor's zest for life was evident in his many passions. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife and had a contagious sense of humor that brought joy to all around him. His adventurous spirit sometimes led to memorable mishaps, like the time he accidentally crashed his motorcycle into someone's living room a story that became a testament to his resilience and good nature.
Those who knew Victor describe him as kind, patient, and filled with an infectious optimism. He saw beauty and hope in the world around him and shared that perspective generously with others. As a reliable friend, co-worker, and neighbor, Victor was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
His charismatic personality and captivating storytelling made him unforgettable to all who met him. Victor had a unique ability to touch lives in profound ways, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
A celebration of Victor's life will be held at Crossroads Community Church on August 31st at 11:00 a.m. All whose lives were brightened by Victor's presence are welcome to attend and share in honoring his memory.
Victor Van Nguyen's life was a testament to the power of kindness, perseverance, and finding joy in life's journey. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
