CHARLES CANTERBURY Obituary

CHARLES S. CANTERBURY
Charles S. Canterbury, age 88, of Needles, California, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1937, in Springfield, Illinois. He built a life grounded in hard work, family, and simple joys.
Charles graduated from Needles High School in 1955, and he worked for 34 years as a devoted shift supervisor at Southern California Gas Company. Remarkably, during his long career, he never took a single sick day-a true testament to his work ethic and dedication. He was also active in the community as a member of the Needles Elks and the Needles Eagles, where he valued friendship and fellowship.
In his free time, Charles enjoyed golfing and fishing, as well as camping trips with his wife and friends. At home, his greatest comforts were simple and meaningful-relaxing in his favorite chair to watch westerns, sharing his love for dogs, and feeding the doves, finches, hummingbirds, quail, pigeons, and other birds that visited his backyard.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles P. and Julia S. Canterbury; and his son, Charles A. Canterbury.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Canterbury; he had four children: his son, Charles A. Canterbury; his daughter, Cynthia Reeves; and his step-children, Darrin Ford and Debbie Sifuentes. He had five grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and kindness, and for the steadfast love he shared with his family and friends.
His memory will continue to live on in the lives
of all who knew him.
