EDNA SHANKLES Obituary

Edna Irene Shankles, age 87, 31-year resident of Bullhead City, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 in Ft. Mohave, Ariz. Edna was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, July 24, 1924, to Birt and Clara Bunnell.

Edna enjoyed camping, fishing and playing dominoes and cards with family and friends. She also liked playing keno and gambling "across the river" at the Laughlin casinos.

Edna was a long-time member of the local Elks Lodge, and also attended the First Baptist Church in Bullhead City.

Her dog, "Bo Bo", was adored by Edna, and she brought him to the post office every day to pick up her mail.

Edna was known for her movie-star looks, her unique sense of style, her magnetic personality, and her ability to make friends with anyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ervin Shankles; son, Thomas Shankles; two sisters, Imogene and Grace; and brother, Mack.

Edna is survived by her grandson, Thomas Shankles, Jr.; granddaughter, Debra Shankles; two brothers, James and Harold; and daughter in-law, Sharon Shankles.

Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 South Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz.

Services will follow at 1:00 p.m.
