EDWARD SPACEK, JR. Obituary

EDWARD R. SPACEK, JR.
Edward R. Spacek, Jr., age 66, known as Eddie, was truly one of a kind and much beloved. He passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Eddie was born in southern California.
Eddie attended UCLA for several years before he began his long career at PacBell, where he worked for more than 30 years as a telephone technician, cable splicer, and repair and installation specialist. He found that his career was very rewarding while allowing him to enjoy his many interests.
Many people are described as one of a kind, but Eddie was the penultimate one of a kind who walked his own road with pride and strength, with a loving, giving spirit, who lived a full and happy life that ended too soon. His greatest joy was his son, Alex, and they shared many adventures, "exploring" on bikes beginning when Alex was a toddler and continuing with the myriad of activities Eddie loved, taught to and shared with Alex and Cassandra. Eddie was an avid outdoorsman. To name just a few of his great interests: camping, backpacking, fishing, boating, skiing, snowboarding (XX runs, helicopter skiing, Eddie was fearless), golf, baseball, watching all sorts of sports, concerts, swimming and kayaking, road trips hither and yon, and adventures in the mountains at the Markleeville cabin they had for many wonderful years. He loved his family time, sharing all of Alex's events, Little League games, and music performances; he was a total hands-on Dad and a committed family man who loved to participate in all the extended family celebrations and traditions.
Eddie was a helper and a giver; should anyone, friend or family, need anything, he was there for them. Always cheerful, always fun, he marched to his own drummer and what beautiful music he made throughout his life for everyone. He will be missed every single day. We will always carry his memory in our hearts.
He is survived by his parents, Edward Sr. and Jacqueline; his former wife, Cassandra; and their son and daughter-in-law, Alexander and Amanda; siblings and their spouses, Timothy and Sara, and Bonnie and Dan, as well as his in-laws, Alan and Jacque, Dianne, and Nancy; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Robin, Emily, Rachel, Phoebe, Nicole, Thomas and Kathy, Jonathan, Stephanie, and Alan and Ny; and four grandnephews.

Almost a year and it's still really tough thinking about my dad... I figured I should post something here though. I don't tend to take a lot of photos of people, but here's a classic shot of my dad at Woods Lake, California, 9 July 2012. I miss you dad.

My first memory of Ed running bases together in third grade.

The kindest and most exasperating person I´ve ever known. Always thinking out if the box with the strength of his convictions. Almost always with unique perspective and brilliant insight that would often allude others.

I´ll miss you always my dear dear friend.

Pic is of our last roadtrip together: Ed at Grand Canyon West.
