RANDALL GUZIK Obituary

RANDALL CULLEN GUZIK
Randall Cullen Guzik, age 52, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
"A man to ride the river with." That means a person who was trustworthy and could be absolutely relied on. That was Cullen Guzik. The fact that we are referring to him in the past tense shatters any bounds of fairness.
Known to his family as Cullen (there were two other relatives already named Randall when he was born) was born to Kenneth and Jimmy Guzik on May 8, 1973 in Miami, Arizona. He passed far far too soon on July 16, 2025. While born in Miami, Arizona, within weeks his family moved to Safford, Arizona and he was raised there. He graduated from Safford High in 1991. While there he lettered in both football and track. He then attended Eastern Arizona College for two years. While there he found the calling that he pursued with passion. That was teaching. He transferred to Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico. He majored in history and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in that subject in 1996. Three years later he was awarded a Master's of Arts in Teaching. After completing his student teaching at Thatcher High School he was hired as a teacher and, initially, a football coach at River Valley High School in Fort Mohave, Arizona. He worked there until he passed. He loved that school. He loved being a teacher and a coach. While at River Valley, at various points, he was an assistant football coach, an assistant and later head track and field coach, head boys soccer coach and head golf coach. He taught virtually every subject in social studies. His parents were both high school teachers for decades. They inspired him. His manner was one of empathy. He cared for his students. Sometime with frustration. However his presence resonated with many people, family, friends, colleagues and students. He is missed.
His was very passionate about following the Pittsburgh Steelers, Batman and Garfield. He loved collecting comic books and action figures. He was a very empathetic person who had a very strong sense of moral justice.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jimmy Ruth (Webb) Guzik, who passed in November, 2020.
He is survived by his father, Ken Guzik, formerly of Safford, Arizona and currently of Bullhead City, Arizona; his brother, Patrick Guzik; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Guzik; and his niece, Evangeline "Evie" Guzik, all of Forney (Dallas Area), Texas. Evie was a shining beacon in his life.
His leaving us at far too young of an age is something that is unfathomable and leaves a hole in our hearts that can't be replaced.
