Barbara Greashaber Obituary

Barbara R. Greashaber, age 70 of Monroe, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 15, 1948, in Monroe, Barb was the daughter of Anthony and Bernice (Miletti) Mignano. She attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Grade School, graduated from St. Mary Academy High School, graduated from St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing in 1967 and went on to complete her Associate's Degree in Nursing from Monroe County Community College in 1983. Barb married the love of her life, Timothy Greashaber, June 21, 1974, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Barb was active with Campfire Girls and spent summers at Camp Tawanka in the Irish Hills and in 1963 was part of the first group from Michigan to have received the Horizon Pin. As a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, she worked on the Funeral Luncheon Committee, the Bereavement Committee, was a Eucharist Minister and volunteered many hours. Barb also enjoyed bowling and had served one term on the Women's Board of Directors for the Monroe Bowling Association. She enjoyed traveling, reading, bowling and crocheting, but her most treasured times were those spent with her family.
Barb leaves to cherish her memory, Tim, her husband of the past 44 years; children: Rebakah (Joshua) Halsey of Monroe and Gregory Greashaber Mignano of San Francisco, California; two grandchildren: Eric Nunn of Monroe and Ryan Nunn of Toledo; as well as her siblings: Kathy (Ron) Motyka of Carleton, Micky (Tom) Meyers of Monroe and Mark (Jan) Mignano of Temperance. Sadly, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Todd Andrew Greashaber, and her parents.
A celebration of Barb's life has been planned under the guidance of the Allore Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 203 E. Elm Ave. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2pm until 8pm, with a vigil service at 7pm led by Deacon Mike Stewart. Her funeral will be Monday. She will lie in state from 9 am until a Mass of Resurrection at 10 am from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Fr. Raymond Arwady, pastor of the church, will officiate. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honor of Barb are asked to consider St. John Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Sympathy to Barb's Family. She loved her family very much. I worked with Barb in 1970's. She was a strong dedicated Nurse. As a New Nurse she taught me how the patient was the "most important". Thank you, Barb...

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.

I would like to send my condolences to Tim and the family. I met Barb at St.Joseph school of nursing and have been friends for over 50 years. We would always send Christmas cards with the a summary of our year and always say we need to get together. We did get together finally a couple years ago and had a wonderful time catching up where our lives and careers had taken us. We got together at Norma and "Hoppy's" cottage and it is a cherished memory. My heart goes out to Tim and the family at this difficult time. Barb was a wonderful woman and she will be missed. She had a wonderful laugh that always made me smile.God bless you Barb, and may you rest in peace.Sincerely,Marlene (Binge) Hock
