Millicent Farmer

Millicent Farmer, 90, of Monroe, passed away at 10:52 a.m. Thursday at Alice Lorraine Care Center.
Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Millicent was born June 5, 1925 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Denver and Leona (Reisig) Holloway. She married Thomas Farmer April 14, 1951; he preceded her in death February 29, 2012.
She had worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. She was also a deputy for the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and also worked in the licensing bureau there until she retired when she had her son. She also was a licensed beautician.
Millicent was a member of St. John Church, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1503, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138 Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies Knights, Monroe County Women's Bowling Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 113. She was also a member of the Monroe Thrift Shop and had volunteered at the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop. She was a past member of the Monroe Boat Club.
She enjoyed word searches and playing cards and bingo. She loved to garden and being outside working on her flowers. She and her husband also enjoyed spending the winters in Florida.
Millicent is survived by her son, Joseph (Christine) Farmer of Monroe; two sisters, Joann Morwood of Denver, Colorado and Virginia Duffey of Monroe and two grandchildren, Thomas and Nicole Farmer.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bill and Jack Holloway and a sister, Barb Jennings.
