Rhea Schadewald Obituary
She was born September 1, 1924, in Kaleva, MI, to Mildred (Wenzel) Shirley and Ival Shirley. She married William Schadewald Jr. November 7, 1942, in Palmyra, MI.
Rhea was a member of the US Trotting Assn. and Michigan Harness Horsemen Assn., St. Peters Lutheran Church in Petersburg, Dundee Area Senior Citizens, and American Legion Auxiliary.
She co-owned Schadewald Salvage Company for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Schadewald also co-owned Schadewald Stables, raising horses for more than 20 years.
She is survived by one son, Lawrence E. (Sharon) of Petersburg, two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Barbara) Murdock of Petersburg, Mrs. Roy (Janet) Wiebusch of Clinton and one daughter-in-law Darlene Schadewald of Lexington, South Carolina, one granddaughter, 9 grandsons, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons Kenneth Lee and Frederick E., one great-granddaughter, Clara Ann Schadewald and three brothers, Roscoe, Marshall and Darwin Shirley.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, August 20, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Petersburg, with Reverend Mark Flory officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am till 12:30 pm at the church with the service beginning at 12:30 pm. Burial will be in Deerfield Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lenawee.
