Robert Blanchette Obituary

Robert "Bob" L. Blanchette, 60, of Clawson, died May 18, 2017. He was born July 3, 1956 in Monroe, Michigan and raised in South Rockwood, Michigan along with five brothers and one sister.
He enjoyed growing up surrounded by loving grandparents, eating ice cream from Affholter Brother's Creamery, spending time at Wampler's Lake with Affholter cousins and being at the farm with the Blanchette family.
He graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School in 1975.
Bob and his wife, Cynthia "Cindy", who survives him, were married on July 18, 1998 and made their home in Clawson.
Bob was well known for his mastery of painting and wallpapering as an independent contractor in Monroe and throughout the Greater Detroit area. He retired after many years working for Barton Malow Company.
Bob dedicated his adult life to serving others whether it was his family, friends or his community. His unconditional love and admiration for all members of his family was the core of his life and his love was endlessly poured out to them, as well as his friends and his community.
He will be sadly missed by the Lion's Club where he touched and continued to serve the lives of numerous people through volunteering his time and resources. Bob selflessly led a life of service and he would have done anything to benefit others. Bob's compassion for others is unmatched.
In addition to Cindy, Bob is also survived by his daughter Ryan Marie Blanchette, 3 grandchildren; Laura, Brady and Molly. His siblings; John (Fran), Jerry (Sue), Mary Jo (Alan) Uhl, Richard (Thomas), Dennis (Amy) and his sister-in-law Charlene. Also surviving Bob are his in-laws, Donald and Patricia Herring, bother-in-law Doug Herring and sister-in-law Jakota Herring. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Nancy, his son Chad and his brother Thomas. Through God's Grace and Mercy, may Bob know of the love of all those he touched.

Bob was always kind to everyone. My Mom loved him like family. She said "Wait until you meet Bob. He is such a wonderful person!" Well, she was right. When I lost my mom last year, Bob was right there to help.

The Bob I will always remember was kind, generous, helpful, encouraging, had a tender soul and an amazingly great love for his family. Cindy was the jewel in his life and whenever he spoke of her, his eyes lit up.

Not many folks could have the vision that Bob had. He could see a need ahead of time and lend a helping hand before someone could think of what it was they needed help with. I don't know how he did so many things at once, but he did!

To me, Bob was a friend. If you are reading or having this read to you, you will agree. Hands down, Bob was a great guy. He will truly be missed.
