Tammy Marie Painter, age 62, of Flat Rock, passed away on Friday, January 08, 2021, at her home surrounded by her husband, her children and family.
Tammy was born September 14, 1958, in Monroe to the late Joyce (Dyson) and Lavern Theisen. Tammy was the first female police officer in the Flat Rock Police Department. She retired on September 14, 2008, as Detective Lieutenant and is still the only female police officer to retire from the force.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Eric Painter; daughter Kristi (Steve) Hill of Carleton and son Robert Eric (Katie) Painter of Livonia. They have 4 grandchildren: Abby, Tyson, Derek and Brody. Sadly, she passed before getting to take part in Robert and Katie's 2nd child, a girl due at the end of February. She is also survived by her brothers: Randy (Bonnie) Theisen of Adrian, David (Joan) Theisen of Wilmington, NC, Scott (Julie) Theisen of Lambertville; sisters Linda (Larry) Lake of Hampstead, NC, and Sally (Mark) Gruber of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joyce (Dyson) Theisen and Lavern Theisen, and sister Nancy Bellg.
The service is Wednesday, 11:00 AM at Community Lutheran Church. Visitation is Monday, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and Tuesday, 1:00 to 8:00 PM, at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, (next to Michigan Memorial Park) 30895 Huron River Dr., Huron Township, (734) 783-2646. Her cremation will take place at "The Witness Crematory" located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monroe Cancer Connection, Flat Rock Junior Bowling or Creative Learning Campus in Flat Rock. A memorial luncheon to follow at a later date. www.mimemorial.com

Ray and I were so saddened to learn about Tammy's passing. So very sorry. Our condolences and prayers are being offered for the entire family. She was a fun person to know, and we definitely enjoyed bowling in the same leagues together. We will be unable to attend any services but you all will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers. May the love of friends bring you all comfort.
